For many high schools, running effective dual-enrollment programs with the local community college is the holy grail of effective articulation. The advantages include high retention and pass rates, “remediation-proof” students, a college head start, and improved A-G prep rates, all while increasing service to traditionally underserved populations. However, setting up a dual enrollment pipeline requires vision, articulation, and strong relationships, and it's typically the high school that must make the overtures and doggedly pursue the program despite a myriad of obstacles. We will present a model of an effective dual-enrollment program, the advantages of a dual-enrollment program, and how to set up a dual-enrollment program for your students, covering various pitfalls to expect and CCAP / AB-288 agreements and their advantages. m,
